Dealing with fragmentation on Server 2003

With the advent of Windows Server 2008 and Server 2008R2 the troubling fragmentation issue has gone away for the most part. In the past with Server 2003, I’ve dealt with the fragmentation by scheduling a task to run on off-hours that handles the defrag process. After being given the task of updating servers I’ve run across some systems that are somewhat outdated/unpatched, not defragged, etc. Here is a screen shot of a recent system I started working with.

Snow Blower Replacement

I was able to part with my snowblower mini in short order. Craigslist had it gone in a day! Now onto bigger and better things. Here is a picture of the upgrade. This machine is a four stroke 10hp with a 32″ path and 24″ auger height.
