Here are a few intial photos of the new Hynes family member. The first one is my personal favorite. The second is Beth’s favorite. You decide. (Actually, I kinda like em all!). Once I get the opportunity, I’ll post a photo gallery.

Joel is a Daddy!!

Posted by joel on August 14, 2006

I went home last night after a long day of hospital time with Beth at St. Joe’s. She stabilized last night and the contractions stopped. She slept through the night last night and this morning I got a call just before going for to work. Beth started going into full blown labor. Since the baby was breach she needed to have a C-Section for delivery. After Beth called back again to say, get your butt down here now. I left in a hurry for Marshfield, once on hwy 97 I had to wait for the road construction crew for 5 minutes because of one lane traffic. Then, after going through Edgar, I got pulled over for speeding! The cop mentioned I was doing 55 in a 40 and continued accelerating. I simply told the cop that my wife is in Marshfield having a baby, now. Once I got to the hospital the doctors started prepping for the C-Section.

The C-Section went well and Beth delivered Gavin Peter Hynes at 9:39 am August 14, 2006. Although he is 7 weeks pre-mature, he weighs in at 5lbs 1.6oz and is 18 inches long. The doctors took the little guy into the NICU for further monitoring and tests. He is stable and breathing with a little diffuculty due to the pre-mature nature.

I have some nice pictures that I will post when I have time. Thanks to all who have been supportive through Beth’s labor.

Baby Update

Posted by joel on August 13, 2006

For those of you who haven’t heard Beth started having contractions Thursday night. It has been a long three days to say the least. She was transferred from St. Claires to St. Joseph’s this morning to get the OB experts involved. When I left St. Joseph’s this evening she was doing pretty well. The contractions subsided considerably and that should provide for a less stressful mother and father to be. I will keep everyone posted!

Site Moved

Posted by joel on August 9, 2006

I moved my site over the last two days. Now, joelhynes.com is hosted through PC Portal of Wausau instead of the previous hosting provider, Digital Dialoge (thanks Pete). I also wanted to mention that I purchased a new digital camera so that you should be seeing some more pictures soon!

I also wanted to make mention of the MS 150 that Seth, Wayne, and I did over the past weekend. We rode a total of 175 miles over a two day period. We would have done the full 200 miles as we first anticipated but it rained all day Sunday. The MS 150 raised 1.4 million dollars for research and elimination of MS. Thanks to all who contributed! In addition, I can still take donations through September. Use this [ link ]
