1st Place – 2008 Alterra COffee Bean Classic Comp 30-34

Posted by joel on July 28, 2008

After spending some time with our new extended family in Madison on Friday and Saturday, Luke and I spent Saturday night in a hotel for my race on Sunday. We had a pretty nice setup at the hotel and had breakfast at IHop – I know Beth wanted IHop too but had to take Gavin back to Wausau after the ball game Saturday evening. By the way the Brewers ended up winning in dramatic fashion with a home run from Ryan Braun in the 6th inning. Go Brewers!!

After eating blueberry pancakes at IHop, Luke and I headed over the Crystal Ridge for the race. Race day was warm with highs in the mid 80′s which made for dusty race conditions. For much of the lead out and open climbs I ended up eating about a gallon of dust from my fellow competitors. After a lackluster start I moved up in the ranks and ended up finishing 5th overall. The single track was flowing and fast in spots while very technical in others. As for the ski hill aspect, that made for some long and arduous climbs.

Here are the overall [results]. Chad found this pic for me.
