5th Place – 2008 Border Battle Comp 30-34

I spent the weekend travelling to Eau Claire to hang out with Drew Saturday and Sunday racing the Border Battle in River Falls. Saturday, Drew and I looked around for deals on new and used bikes, watched the Brew Crew, had a couple bevs, ate some delicious pork tenederloin, and just hung out.

Sunday it was off to the Border Battle for the 9th race in the WORS series. With the increased competition I still managed 5th in my age and 25th overall. Other notables: Ben Koenig took 3rd overall and Mark Lewis won our age bracket. Way to go guys!

One other interesting comment, I monitor the Velonews RSS feed for new events and they mentioned the series! Check it out [here]

Underdown Video

3rd Place – 2008 Sunburst Showdown Comp 30-34

After taking a couple days off from riding after the 24 hours of 9 mile, I participated in the Sunburst Showdown on Sunday Aug 9th. The story of the day for me was my inability to generate my normal power output. Since the race took place on a ski hill there was ample amounts of climbing that I can normally do well at. For what ever reason, I was unable to hammer the hills. The other problem is, I’m not sure what to equate the lack of power to. Perhaps it was the 140 miles I did the previous Saturday at 9 mile, or perhaps the lack of riding during the week, or even something I ate. I wish I knew….
