Race The Lake

Race The Lake is tomorrow. For those that don’t know, it is essentially a 90 mile road race around Lake Winnebago. There are a few items of mention:
- The first person to the top of the hill at High Cliff State Park – you will win the “King of the Hill” and $500.
- Overall winner $2000 – this will be doubled to $4,000 if you win and have an average speed that is greater than 24.8 mph!! 2nd gets $1500, 3rd 1000, 4th 700, 5th $600, 6th $500, 7th $400, 8th $300, 9th $200 and 10th $100.
This is pretty good motivation for getting a high average speed as you can see.
I have to say thanks to Punk and Mike (Beth’s aunt and uncle) for letting me stay at their place Saturday night in Neenah. Even with a proximity to the Fond Du Lac, I still need to get up at 3:30am to get to the start by 5:50am. I also need to thank Matt Block for letting me use a wheel as my Mavic R-Sys is on the fritz – “undetermined creaking”. Most likely the issue is the bearings in the rear hub.
It also appears we have a good number of riders from our team so that should help keep the average speed up. Whether we’ll come close to the record average is undetermined.
